Casting news on Edgar Wright's 2015 Ant-Man movie picked up steam in recent weeks with the official announcement that Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas would play Scott Lang and Hank Pym, respectively. But once fans knew the actors who would play the two men to don the Ant-Man suit, their attention turned to another insect superhero: Wasp, aka Janet Van Dyne.

Now, Variety reports that Evangeline Lilly, who starred as Kate on Lost and most recently appeared in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, is in "early talks" with Marvel for the female lead in the film. This is a role that has been rumored for months, one that would likely serve as a love interest and the basis for a romance in the film and one that many fans expect to portray Wasp.

It is important to note, though, that the report claims that the role in question is Hank Pym's daughter, which could be another sign that Wright plans to re-write some of the more canonical elements from the comic books.

Speaking of the comics, Ant-Man and Wasp typically go together, as they are husband and wife who happen to fight the bad guys together. It seems highly likely that Ant-Man would introduce Wasp in one form or another as she's such a major part of the character, but only time will tell.

Rashida Jones, who starred on Parks and Recreation but also alongside Rudd in I Love You, Man, had been rumored for the role quite frequently, as well.

What do you think? Would Lilly make a good lead female for the movie? Let us know in the comments below.
