Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had its fair share of detractors during its freshman run thus far. Some of the criticism has been deserved (like the need to really connect the show to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and to build interesting characters), while some of it has not (Iron Man and Thor can't show up in every episode). But Clark Gregg, who stars has Agent Phil Coulson, has preached patience, and he offered another interesting tease for the show's future.

In an interview with TV Guide, Gregg discussed how the show would tie into the rest of Marvel's Phase Two movies, such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and, of course, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The first film on that list was the man focus of Gregg's comments, in which he teased a link between the show and the film.

"Ask me again [about a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie] after I've seen Captain America 2," Gregg said. "From what I can tell from the trailers, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s a big part of that world...this C.E.N.T.I.P.E.D.E. plot and The Clairvoyant is going to kind of pull a lot of things together and perhaps connects to some of the Marvel films in the same way that a [previous episode] connected, to certain extent, with Thor 2. It will be interesting to see how our team integrates with the world after Captain America [The Winter Soldier]."

The show did a Thor: The Dark World tie-in earlier this season, but it contained only minor references to the events of the film. Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) will appear on the show later this year, though, so it seems like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is slowly expanding its scope.

What do you think? Will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. tie in directly to Captain America 2? Let us know in the comments below.
