For the extent of its career as the world's biggest boy band, One Direction has always been compared to the Beatles. Why many don't understand the comparison and take it as an insult to the Fab Four, there's no denying that the hype around The Beatles in the mid 1960s and on is definitely similar to what we're seeing these days with One Direction. In fact, some would say that, in terms of fame and celebrity, the Midnight Memories crooners are even bigger! That's what Harry Styles is saying, anyway.

To be fair, Styles isn't trying to make anybody angry or say that his band is better in any way; he's just saying that it's a different time and celebrity is more prominent in our culture.

"We all sat and watched the film of The Beatles arriving in America and to be honest that really was like us. Stepping off the plane, the girls, the madness," he told Top of the Pops Magazine. "It was exactly the same as when we got there - just 50 years earlier."

The world just celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Beatles appearing of The Ed Sullivan Show, which was the start of the fanaticism over musicians in such a way. Without this moment, there would be no One Direction, really.

"But none of us think we're in the same league as them music-wise," Harry explained. "We would be total fools if we did. Fame-wise it's probably even bigger but we don't stand anywhere near them in terms of music."

What do you think of Harry's statement on the Beatles and One Direction?
