Update: Nancy Motes, half-sister of Julia Roberts' found dead in bath tub of an apparent suicide; not 'drug overdose' coroner reveals

MStars previously reported that the half-sister of actress Julia Roberts' was found dead, from an apparent drug overdose, according to the family statement released Monday.

"It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes ... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose," the statement said. "The family is both shocked and devastated."

MStars has just learned that an update has been given stating that the cause of death was an apparent suicide.

According to the NY Daily News, Nancy Motes, 37 was found dead in her bathtub Sunday afternoon, of an apparent suicide.

A Los Angeles County coroner official stated that Motes, who was a professional dog walker, and pet-sitter in the city was found in a bathtub filled with water.

Police said the case was "reported to (the) coroner as a suicide." Craig R. Harvey, chief of coroner investigations for Los Angeles County, reported the death in an email:

"The decedent was found in a bathtub that contained water. There were prescription and nonprescription drugs found at the scene. The role the drugs may or may not have played is not yet known," the chief of coroner stated.

Police and paramedics rushed to the death scene, that was located at a rental house on N. Bundy Drive, Sunday afternoon, a fire department spokesman said.

Sources revealed that the home is rented by a surgeon, and not the star's half-sister, Motes.

The site also states that the cause of death was "probably" drugs.
