Jonathan Levine's 50/50 was one of the most original, real-life comedy films of the last 5 years that explored the ups and downs of a young adult with cancer. Joseph Gordon-Levitt starred with Seth Rogen supporting, with many critics believing the two should have been awarded for their performances. That aside, this team of actors and a director/writer are teaming up again for a new comedy currently using the working title Untitled Xmas Comedy.

Though we don't know the official title of the film, we do know that his new comedy will focus on three childhood friends who come back to New York City for their annual celebration of going out on the big holiday. Gordon-Levitt and Rogen are set to star as two of these characters with the third to be cast in the near future.

Considering all of the people involved, so far, are Jewish it will be pretty interesting to see how this film turns out. Perhaps they'll focus on that or just create a universal story about the holiday.

The film is said to start filming in the summer of 2014, with Sony winning distribution rights after beating out several other studios that wanted to helm the project.

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

Xmas was shopped as a package over the weekend and sparked heated interest from several studios, including Sony, Universal and Paramount. In a competitive situation, Sony emerged as the winner before the dust settled late Monday afternoon. Sony has a strong relationship with Point Grey, coming off last year's hit comedy This Is the End.
