Michael Sam's coming out announcement was reportedly hard on his father, Michael Sam Sr. who explained he took the news hard, but now says that he is proud of his NFL prospect son for being apart of history.

In an interview with The New York Times, Michael Sam Sr. said he got the news through text which read:  "Dad, I'm gay." Shocked by the news, he then said, "I couldn't eat no more, so I went to Applebee's to have drinks," adding, "I don't want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment."

Sam Sr. admitted that he wasn't open to homosexuality saying, he's a "man and a woman kind of guy," but according to Foxsports.com he later changed his first reaction saying "I was shocked," Michael, Sr., said. "I'm proud of him. He's my son."

The University of Missouri football star, Michael Sam has come out as a gay man and recent photos of his alleged boyfriend have hit the net.

 The college football player went public in an interview with ESPN's "Outside the Lines" on Sunday, Sam said, "I am an openly, proud gay man." Sam said, "I understand how big this is," he said. "It's a big deal. No one has done this before. And it's kind of a nervous process, but I know what I want to be ... I want to be a football player in the NFL."

Sam added, that once revealing the news to his teammates, he wanted to officially go public with the news, "I didn't realize how many people actually knew, and I was afraid that someone would tell or leak something out about me," he said. "I want to own my truth. ... No one else should tell my story but me."

Now photos obtained by MediaTakeout.com shows the athlete taking some close pictures with his nameless alleged lover.
