Jennifer Lawrence NOT engaged to boyfriend Nicholas Hoult, OK! Magazine apologizes for fake Christmas proposal 'error,' 'still so in love'

Back in January, rumors suggested that Nicholas Hoult 'secretly' proposed to "Hunger Games" girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence. That's not true - the popular Hollywood couple is NOT engaged despite this shady OK! magazine report.

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult confirmed that they were indeed dating again after kissing at the Golden Globes. But according to recent gossip, the couple's already secretly engaged! Apparently Hoult popped the big question on Christmas Eve, and J-Law gladly accepted!

A source for OK! magazine explains, "Jennifer is walking on air. She's madly in love with Nicholas and is the happiest she's ever been. Jen likes to live a relatively modest private life. She knows news of the engagement will make that harder if not impossible. And she is obsessed with her privacy." 

Rumors suggest that the "Hunger Games" beauty and her "Warm Bodies" boyfriend spent the holidays together at Lawrence's family home in Lexington, Kentucky. The 23-year-old actress is really close to her family, so it was the perfect time for Hoult to propose!

"Jennifer is extremely close to her family... When she isn't filming or promoting her movies, she spends a lot of time at her parents' house."

The source continues, "All the family had gathered in the living room, enjoying the night before Christmas when Nick asked for everyone's attention and began giving a speech to Jennifer. He stook up and took her hand, helping her to stand up as well. When she was on her feet, he knelt down and pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked her to marry him."

Apparently, Lawrence screamed and cried before shouting "Yes!"

The newly engaged couple then returned to Hoult's home in England, and they've been spotted out together ever since.

If it really DID happen, how cute!

Due to their busy movie careers, Lawrence and Hoult don't plan on officially tying the knot until sometime in 2015. But apparently J-Law wants at least four kids, so they have a lot to look forward to as a family!

Meanwhile, a source for Gossip Cop reveals that such rumors are "completely untrue"...

And indeed, they ARE untrue. Ok! mag even offered an official apology! Well, sort of.

In an statement released on Wednesday (Feb. 12), J-Law's rep claims that OK! "recklessly published" such stories "without ever checking with a representative of Lawrence or Hoult."
