It's hard to think that the beautiful Barbadian beauty was once struggling financially, or that she had nearly lost all she'd worked so hard for, but her latest revelations show just that. With 2009 coming to a close, she was one of the world's biggest stars, but only had just under $2 million left. The star is now worth in the region of $38 million and has learned from the financial collapse that nearly wrecked her life.

The star, 25, revealed she started 2009 with an estimated $10 million in the bank, but suffered a near $9 million loss due to being ill advised by her finance team. The 'Umbrella' singer is currently locked in a legal battle, suing Berdon LLP for mismanagement. On top of bad advice, they never informed her that her Last Girl On Earth tour was actually losing her money, not helping her to make a profit. Albums like Good Girl Gone Bad and Rated R helped the stunner rise to prominence and she has since dominated the charts.

The company claims that Rihanna was in full control of her spending and knew the circumstances, meaning they shouldn't be responsible, but depending on legal documentation, it's their word against their former clients. Rihanna is currently hard at work making new music and adding to her already illustrious career. With these financial lessons endured, and massive amounts of financial rewards since then, it seems Rihanna learned the hard way, and the star should be careful to avoid such problems in the future.
