The Billboard Hot 100 has a new No. 1 song, and it's a "Happy" hit. Yes, after weeks of building, Pharrell Williams' Despicable Me 2 track has reached the top of the US singles chart.

The new top spot song rises to the occasion after Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" slips to the No. 2 spot after four weeks in the first spot, according to Billboard. The top position comes to Pharrell after a massive 22 percent digital downloads boost for "Happy," which sold over 400,000 downloads last week. The track is also the second-most played song on radio, behind Perry's "Dark Horse."

This is the first solo No. 1 for Pharrell, though the No. 1 US spot isn't totally foreign territory for him. He previously reached the chart summit as a featured artist on Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot," Ludacris' "Money Maker" and the smash 2013 hit "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke.

"Happy" at No. 1 comes ahead of Pharrell's performance at the Oscars this Sunday (March 2) and the release of his new album G I R L, which is due out in stores next week.

As mentioned, "Dark Horse" follows "Happy," despite seeing gains in radio and streaming, thanks to Perry's new Egyptian themed music video for the track. The No. 3 Hot 100 spot is another familiar track: Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty," which holds the third spot for the third week in a row.

The big newcomer into the top 10 is John Legend's soulful love ballad "All Of Me," which jumped seven spots to No. 4. This marks the first top 10 song for Legend, as "All Of Me" sold 203,000 downloads, had 4.5 million streams and jumped up four spots on the Radio Songs chart to No. 14.

Most of the top 10 is leftovers from last week, as Beyoncé and Jay Z hold tight at No. 5 with "Drunk In Love." That married duo are followed by Bastille's "Pomeii" at a new No. 6 peak, Lorde's "Team" at No. 7, A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera's "Say Something" at No. 8, OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" at No. 9 and Pitbull and Ke$ha's "Timber" at 10.
