Showtime's Shameless Emmy Rossum on Complex Mag Cover

The 27-year-old Shameless actress posed for the cover of Complex's February/March issue. The magazine declares, "Emmy Rossum is not your average everyday sex symbol."

In an interview with Conan O'Brien, Rossum addressed her comical pose for the magazine. "It's one of those things where, 'We want you to look like really empowered and aggressive,' and you're like, 'ERRRGHH,' and they're like, 'No, but sexy.'"

Rossum then poked fun at how photo-shoots can get in terms of creativity.  "My favorite is when the photographer is like, 'You have a secret.'"  She confesses, "It's very, very weird."

In an interview on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Rossum said about the Showtime show, "It's raw and it's wild and it's working class and it's got an edge to it. It's really fun."   While talking about her character's development throughout the seasons, Rossum said in an interview with A.V. Club, "I think you just have to play the sane one in an insane asylum.... I think when you have a lot of kids in a family, there are power shifts and balances, and it's interesting to tell that story."  

In Shameless, Rossum plays Fiona Gallagher, the eldest sister in the Gallagher clan.  She constantly struggles with the father's influence on the family.  The father, Frank Gallagher, is played by William H. Macy.

About working with William H. Macy, Rossum said in her interview at Jimmy Kimmel, "Our characters hate each other. I play his daughter and he kind of plays this MIA ... worst father ever. So, we don't have that many scenes together."
