Ted Nugent has kinda sorta apologized for calling President Obama a "subhuman mongrel" in an interview last month. The classic rocker backed off his offensive language in an interview with radio host Ben Ferguson.

"I do apologize - not necessarily to the President - but on behalf of much better men than myself," he said, according to CNN.

Of course, Nugent did go on to call the POTUS a "violator of his oath to the Constitution," so it's unlikely he'll be invited to any presidential dinners any time soon.

Nugent drew the ire of plently of people after he went on a racially tinged rant against the president during an interview with Guns.com

"I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame, enough Americans to be ever vigilant, but not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America. I am heartbroken but I am not giving up," Nugent told the publication.

For those unfamiliar with the history of the American South, "mongrel" was a term regularly used by groups like the Ku Klux Klan to degrade and dehumanize biracial people. In actuality, it means "a dog of indeterminate breed" (or "a mutt," colloquially). The word comes loaded with all sorts of connotations that Nugent is no doubt aware of and the fact that he couldn't even muster up a full apology for his actions will likely help you decide whether or not you support Nugent and his political buddies.

Of course, Nugent has a history of this sort of behavior. He famously courted controversy by calling his last tour "The Black Power Tour 2013."
