Jennifer Lopez made her humble beginning as a Fly Girl on the hit show In Living Color. Now she serves as a host on Fox's American Idol and it doesn't look like she's leaving the TV screen anytime soon.

In the past, Lopez has starred in films like the biopic Selena, Monster in Law and Maid in Manhattan and MStars just got wind that the singer/host/businesswoman is headed back to acting.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has picked up a 13-episode season of Lopez's new series Shades of Blue.

The site reports that the show will star Lopez as Harlee McCord as a corrupt police officer and single mother who has just been enlisted by the FBI for an anti-corruption task force.

The show will also serve as a huge venture for Ryan Seacrest as it will be the first scripted drama executive produced under his Ryan Seacrest Productions company.

Vibe Magazine reports that Adi Hasak (3 Days To Kill) will serve as the show's writer and executive producer. Lopez will also serve as executive producer along with her manager Benny Medina, while her Nuyorican company will share production duties with Seacrest, Universal Television and other imprints.

In a statement, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke had this to say:

"Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we're delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show."

Shades of Blue is slated to air during the 2015-16 television season.
