Jim Parsons is gearing up to make his debut on Saturday Night Live and the Big Bang Theory actor recently stopped by TODAY to talk with Matt Lauer about his big night and his role as Sheldon.

Earlier this month, MStars reported that Parsons would be making his hosting debut on SNL this Saturday (March 1).

While chatting with Lauer, Parsons admitted that his upcoming gig is "rather intimidating."

"It feels like I'm ruining the club that they created," he explained. "You know what I mean? You grow up going, 'That's some Hollywood royalty that gets to host that.' (But) apparently I was wrong, 'cause here I am."

But if you've seen any episodes of the Big Bang Theory, you know just how funny Parsons really is and he says playing the role of Sheldon is "surprisingly easy."

"I think that the writing is really good, and I think that there's undeniably part of myself that understands what it is to feel outsidery. Probably everybody does. I think that's part of the reason the show's so successful. But if you're just willing to access that and tap into that, it's not hard at all to feel like 'no one understands me.'"

Tune in to SNL March 1 at 11:30 p.m. on NBC. The musical guest will be Beck, who is returning for his seventh appearance as musical guest.

This will also mark the first episode of SNL since long-timer Seth Myers' departure.
