Indie-pop revivalists The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart made a Tarantino-esque best-of mashup of twee with their 2009 review. They did the same thing with shoegaze on the 2011 album Belong. Now, they are releasing a new album titled Days Of Abandon have their sights set firmly on the era's college-rock. The lead single, "Simple and Sure" sounds like Polaris on uppers and it is fantastic.

"I didn't want to make Belonger. This album was a chance to step back from that universal style of songwriting to something that was far more personal, more in keeping with my original ideals. I wanted the music to be joyful and full of light, even if the subjects were often dark," lead singer Kip Berman said in a press release.

We'd say he's off to a great start.

Days Of Abandon drops April 22.
