Looks like the residents of Charlotte, N.C. will have to get use to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association because the HBCU tournament will return to the Queen City for 6 more years, and this time the headquarters will be here to stay.

The Huffington Post reported that the CIAA commissioner Jacqie Carpenter made the huge announcement on Monday.  The men and women's basketball team will remain in Charlotte for "at least six more years," and the CIAA headquarters will be added as well.

The former headquarters was Hampton, V.A. where the conference was established more than 100 years ago. The move will happen no later than 2016.

Charlotte has been the city to host the CIAA since 2006, bringing in top celebrities, parties, and events. This is good news, to some but for others it raises questions on the cities safety due to the weekends, violence.

MStars previously reported a shooting occurred at a party that was held during CIAA at the Sheraton Hotel featuring Diddy, Fabolous, and Future.

The commissioner did not make a statement about that event, due to fact that it was not a CIAA-sanctioned event.

"Charlotte did a really good job of bringing all of its key leaders together to see how this agreement could stretch beyond the CIAA tournament," Carpenter said Monday in Charlotte. "I think it's a great opportunity to embed ourselves in the community here."

The $1.4 million funding per year to the CIAA will be disturbed to the conference's 12 HBCU's who make up the CIAA. "I don't think that we could go anywhere else and get the type of deal that we're about to encounter now," Carpenter said. "Based on what was presented we felt like this was the best opportunity for us."

Charlotte mayor Patrick D. Cannon is excited about the agreement and said, it is "an overtime buzzer-beater victory" for the Queen City and the CIAA.
