Update: According to E! Online, Marvel Studios will "fast-track" Johansson's scenes to accommodate her pregnancy.

News broke Monday that actress Scarlett Johansson is pregnant and expecting her first child with fiancé Romain Dauric. The actress of course plays Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is scheduled to begin filming later this month. So will the pregnancy affect her ability to shoot the film?

The role requires (or at least, it has in the past) Johansson to wear a leather bodysuit for the action scenes. If the actress starts to become visibly pregnant during the filming, would that affect the stunts, action sequences, costumes, etc.? No word has come out yet, but this is worth keeping an eye on as production gets underway on Joss Whedon's sequel. And, let's face it. If anyone can take this situation and use it to his advantage, it's Joss Whedon.

It's unlikely they would work the pregnancy into the story, as that would require some stretches of the imagination that Whedon and Co. probably wouldn't make. They could also rearrange the shooting schedule and frontload it with Johansson's scenes to get her work done first so that the actress has time to go home before she starts to show too much of a bump.

Either way, the actress' pregnancy is something to celebrate, so congratulations to her and her fiancé on the joyous news.

Johansson next appears as Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which hits theaters in the U.S. on April 4.
