Harry Styles clearly has potential in the acting world, so it comes as no surprise that rumors about him starring in the film adaptation of Wicked have surfaced. But what does this mean for the future of One Direction? (SPOILERS to follow)

"Harry is very focused on his singing career but there's a real buzz about him. Movie makers see him as a new Zac Efron and think he would be a perfect casting for a movie musical," an insider told The Sun. "He's top of the Wicked team's wish list to play the romantic lead role of Fiyero - who becomes The Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz." (That was the spoiler. Seriously that is a cool twist to the story... Wicked seems pretty interesting!)

Universal Pictures own the rights to this property, but Harry was recently spotted at Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein's pre-Oscar party, leading many to believe that the big-time producer also has his eye on the singer.

Weinstein does in fact hope to make Harry a movie star, but added: "First he's got to date three of my daughters. They all think that he's extremely handsome."

Harry was also seen hanging out with Johnny Depp recently, which also added to the movie career hype.

"Harry and Johnny have become good mates lately. Johnny has been on call to give Harry advice and, if he can, help him cope with the pressures of being a superstar," a source explained. "They first met when One Direction came round to his LA mansion last summer but it wasn't until they were neighbors in Hampstead late last year that they really hit it off."

As of now, Harry has not made any statements about leaving One Direction and is actually under contract through 2016. We'll have to wait a bit for this movie career it seems.
