EXCLUSIVE: singer/actress Tatyana Ali talks being celebrity ambassador for 'My Black is Beautiful' and future plans for 2014 (Mstars interview)

My Black is Beautiful and Imagine a Future. The 30-day "Beauty in Action" challenge kicked off Monday, March 10th. Tatyana Ali, who is a celebrity ambassador took time out to chat with MStars reporter, Star Connor about her role and what My Black is Beautiful means to her.

Star: What role do you play in My Black is Beautiful ?

Tatyana Ali : I've been working with My Black is Beautiful for about a year now. I have been aware of My Black is Beautiful for a few years, it has been out for a while now and so last year I went around to different parts of the country during Essence Fest, and here in L.A. and introduced the film, "Imagine the Future."

"Imagine the Future" is an incredible documentary that My Black is Beautiful did it follows the story of one little girls growth. She learns about herself, and her history as she blossoms into a young woman. I was also in the documentary, talking about my own experiences, self confidence, and lack of it when I was younger, how I kind of growth into myself.

Star: Tell me more about the Beauty and Action program. It's like a 30 day challenge correct?

Tatyana Ali: It's a 30 day challenge for women of all ages. Everyday a message comes up on the My Black is Beautiful Facebook page and it's a challenge. Doing something for the community that day, doing something for yourself that day. But it is literally 30 days of building up self confidence, and self esteem. We are asking women to take part in it and see if you really take time out to honor yourself, and your sisters.

Star: What somethings that your fans can expect from you?

Tatyana Ali: 2014 started off with a bang, I put new music out on my birthday. I put a EP out, it's called "Hello." I haven't put music out in about 10 years, since i was about 16-years-old. If you want to talk about a 30 day challenge, that's what it's been like for me.

Star: Any chance we will see you anymore sitcoms or TV shows?

Tatyana Ali: You know what I don't know. I don't now yet, as of right now no, but I would like to do another TV show as well. Black girls are in right now, there are some really great shows out there and I want to do something really special.
