Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, respectively, in Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. The character of Quicksilver also appears in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hits U.S. theaters on May 23.

The slight problem is that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are both mutants and the children of Magneto; however, 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the X-Men and the term "mutant," which means Marvel cannot use that word or reference their lineage in any way. So the studio must get creative in crafting their backstory.

Many fans have speculated that Marvel would turn Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into Inhumans for the movies, especially in light of the appearance of what seemed to be a Kree on the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show. But Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige squashed that notion in a recent interview with The Huffington Post, which asked him if the studio would go that route to circumvent the word "mutant."

"As it relates to Scarlet Witch an Quicksilver? No. No, no, no," Feige said.

He did state that Marvel Studios is looking at the Inhumans story, which has potential for a great movie, but any such venture would have no connection to Age of Ultron.

What do you think, comic movie fans? Are you surprised the studio won't turn the characters into Inhumans? And how will Marvel get around the word "mutant" in The Avengers 2? Let us know your ideas in the comments below.
