'True Detective' Season 2 Casting Rumors: Brad Pitt has 'come up many times' for 2015 episodes starring role

One of the most interesting aspects about HBO's True Detective had viewers' attention before the first chilling episode aired. The facts that two huge Hollywood A-listers like Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson had signed on for a television series was incredibly attractive. Now that season one has come to an end and these stars aren't coming back for the second season, we're all wondering who will take the lead in 2015. Now some rumors are spreading about Brad Pitt coming on board for the new episodes!

Fans of the series knew for quite some time that the narrative in season one would only last the eight episodes of the season, meaning each new season would be a whole different story and cast. The exciting thing about True Detective is that it has the potential to have huge celebrities coming in each season, allowing fans to experience a new side of these actors. But whom will we see in 2015? Is Brad Pitt a really a possibility?

"Brad's name has come up many times, it's just a matter of what his other commitments are," an insider told the tabloid website HollywoodLife.com. "It's the show everyone wants to be on, because the writing and the roles are just so exquisite and complex. Brad has tight relations with HBO - he teamed up with Ryan Murphy last year to produce the HBO movie The Normal Heart. I know everyone would be thrilled to have him onboard."

First of all, at this point anybody is a possibility. If it turns out to be Pitt, that would be incredible but odds are a whole bunch of other names have "come up many times" as well. Plus, True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto recently gave some hints for the upcoming season and who could star.

"Okay. This is really early, but I'll tell you (it's about) hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system," he said.

Unless Pitt is one of the bad men, we should be looking at actresses for the leading roles in season two.
