The wait for Season 4 of HBO's Game of Thrones is almost over, as the season premiere is set for Sunday, April 6. And according to showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff, fans are in for more action than ever.

The two spoke to Vanity Fair and Benioff revealed that Season 4 was the hardest to shoot thus far because of all the added visual effects they needed to create all the action. Weiss added "the sorts of visual-effect type things that we hadn't really done before" is what added to the difficulty during filming.

Benioff focused specifically on Daenerys' dragons, which he said get bigger and bigger each season. He also spoke more broadly about Season 4 and then mentioned a specific scene with Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow:

David Benioff: [...] And it was more action this season than there ever has been before. And it's just much more time consuming. To shoot a decent fight, you need to cover all the different angles, and it ends up eating a lot of days. But the actors have gotten better at the fighting. Yesterday we were watching this fight scene with Kit Harington in it, and he did this movement - 'Is that sped up? Because it looks a little - '

Dan Weiss: 'That looks fake! Let's take the frame-rate...' But he was actually moving a thousand miles an hour with a heavy sword in his hand. He's good. He's really good."
