Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay's Chris Martin Separate

In a post titled, "Conscious Uncoupling," Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow announced a mutual separation.  The relationship space comes after controversy with Vanity Fair in which an article may or may not point to a possible extramarital affair between Paltrow and billionaire Jeff Soffer.

In a joint blog post on Paltrow's blog, Goop, they wrote:

"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate."

The Vanity Fair article has yet to be published but was rumored to be an "epic takedown" of the actress.  According to RadarOnline, Paltrow had made a habit of having her eyes wander.  Reportedly, the Shallow Hal actress cheated on Brad Pitt with John Hannah, her Sliding Doors co-star.  In the rumor-driven report, Paltrow also reportedly cheated on Ben Affleck with Viggo Mortensen. 

The couple went on to saying in their blog post, "We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."

Paltrow and Martin have two children together: daughter Apple, 9, and son Moses, 7.
