Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin jointly announced their separation this week. The actress and lifestyle entrepreneur has received a wave of support from fans and Hollywood.

Fellow actress Cameron Diaz spoke with E! News in support of Paltrow. Diaz said, "They worked really hard. People want them to blow up and for it to be ugly, but they are kind, generous, loving people who really care about one another."

The separation came after scrutinty of Paltrow and her reported affairs while she has been in the spotlight.

Diaz, who has had a romantic past with Justin Timberlake that has become a strong friendship, went on to saying, "Just because they don't want to be a couple together doesn't mean they have to hate one another. They are really good friends. They've made a conscious effort to separate the part of their lives they don't want to live together anymore and maintained a really beautiful, strong bond, as parents and as friends."

Diaz and Timberlake costarred in the hit movie Bad Teacher.  In an interview with US Weekly when questioned about how it was working with her ex, Diaz said, "No, it's great. Justin and I have always had a good laugh together, and to make a movie where we get to have a laugh together, and there really was no one else who was more perfect for this part."

About the Paltrow/Martin separation, Diaz continued her comments by saying, "I think people should really honor that and they should admire it and they should respect it... they've done something really extraordinary and they've been very brave with presenting that to the public."
