The cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show has added Michael Chiklis, who famously starred on another FX show, The Shield, to its ranks.

Ryan Murphy made the announcement on stage on the final night of PaleyFest 2014 during the American Horror Story: Coven panel, according to EW.com. The AHS co-creator said the Emmy-winning actor would play Evan Peters' character's father and Kathy Bates' ex-husband.

After weeks of speculation, American Horror Story series creator Ryan Murphy has finally revealed the subtitle of Season 4.

Murphy tweeted on Monday that the season will be known as American Horror Story: Freak Show. The news is likely not a surprise to those who have been following AHS, but this is confirmation right from the source.

Here's the exclusive details EW.com posted about the new season:

"Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S. Her group of 'unusuals'? Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy all play performers whom Lange's character has rescued; Denis O'Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return. Freak Show's 13 episodes will track this group as they do anything to keep their business around."

The idea gained some steam after drawings of a fictitious season called American Horror Story: Circus appeared online last year. Fans began to discuss the possibility of a carnival-themed season, and now we know the series will head in that direction.
