Actress Gwyneth Paltrow mother disappointed with split.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow received support from her Hollywood peers, but her mother is a different story.

Blythe Danner, Paltrow's mother, said she was "upset" and that she still loves Chris Martin.

A source at US Weekly said, "She begged Gwyneth not to end it, that he's a good man. But Gwyneth had to do what she felt was best."

Danner, 71, was married to Paltrow's father for 33 years until his death in 2002.  In an interview with Glamour's U.K. edition in June 2013, Paltrow, 41, had said, "I asked my dad once, 'How did you and Mom stay married for 33 years?' And he said, 'Well, we never wanted to get divorced at the same time,'"

"I think that's what happens," Paltrow continued. "When two people throw in the towel at the same time, then you break up, but if one person's saying, 'Come on, we can do this,' you carry on."  These previous comments solidify the mutual parting of the couple, which was announced in Paltrow's blog.

MStars News previously reported Paltrow received praise from actress Cameron Diaz who said, "Just because they don't want to be a couple together doesn't mean they have to hate one another. They are really good friends. They've made a conscious effort to separate the part of their lives they don't want to live together anymore and maintained a really beautiful, strong bond, as parents and as friends."
