Teams usually like the opportunity to make NBA history, but when it's the gut wrenching kind of record the Philadelphia 76ers were closing in on, it becomes an even bigger deal. Teams do not want people to look back in the history books and remember them for all the wrong reasons. They had lost 26 games straight, but they ended the record-tying streak, dominating the Detroit Pistons throughout, grabbing the 123-98 win.

After the game rookie guard Michael Carter-Williams said "It's great to be back on the winning side," His excitement continued as he said "We're really excited. We've worked hard every single day and given it our all for a lot of these games, so it's good to come up with a win." After trading Spencer Hawes and Even Turner the 76ers have not responded to their rebuilding attempts, and the players have looked distraught, so it must of been a huge relief for their players, especially the young ones like Carter-Williams.

For the first time in a long while their players had something to play for, and they were able to relax with around 5 minutes remaining, with coach Brett Brown knowing his team were actually closing in on the important victory. The 76ers are now locked in with the Cleveland Cavaliers for one of sport's most embarrassing records, and things are looking up as they're hopefully they can draft Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker in the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft.

The 76ers have finally won a game, and they've received a standing ovation, what else is left to surprise us all before the NBA playoffs start?
