Return to the All Saints' Hospital emergency department with Nurse Jackie and the gang. Showtime announced that they are renewing 'Nurse Jackie' for a seventh season, two weeks ahead of the season six premiere date of April 13 at 9 p.m.

This is a rare move for Showtime, a network that usually waits to see how a current season of a show is performing before renewing. It is still up to speculation on whether season seven will be the last season of "Nurse Jackie". The renewal seems to be solely based on the performance of season five which averaged 3.13 million viewers across all platforms on a weekly basis. This performance was up 14 percent from season four.

The show is focused around Edie Falco's Emmy-Award winning, and Golden Globe and SAG nominated performance as the titular character of Jackie Peyton, an emergency room nurse who is addicted to painkillers. The sixth season will follow Jackie's relapse into her drug filled past after struggling to remaining sober for a year. We will also see how Jackie balances her complicated relationships with her daughter, ex-husband, and current boyfriend.

One major difference that this season will see is the release of Peter Facinelli's character of Dr. Cooper. Its unclear if Dr. Cooper will be back at all this season since Facinelli asked to be released from his contract after last season in order to pursue other career endeavors.

Production on the seventh season will begin later this year and will air on Showtime April of 2015.
