AMC's breakout hit 'The Walking Dead' ratings seem like they are uncontrollable, kind of like a zombie apocalypse. The season 4 finale was viewed by 15.7 million viewers setting a new record for views of a finale, just 400,000 total viewers shy of tying the all time series high. In the most important key demographics, adults 18-49, 10.2 million viewers saw the finale, the most from this demographic that have ever tuned into "The Walking Dead' before.

In terms of finale ratings, the season four finale added 3.2 million to the 12.42 million viewers that tuned into the season three finale.  These are also just the number for live/same day viewing, when the DVR numbers are added the results are likely to skyrocket.

'The Walking Dead' live after show 'The Talking Dead' hosted by Chris Hardwick also showed a series best in viewers, which premiered to 7.3 million viewers. The after show features behind the scenes footage, viewers reactions from the episodes, and actors of the show stop by to discuss the episodes.

AMC is keeping a good thing alive by green lighting a spin-off of 'The Walking Dead,' which based on these numbers, seems like a no brainer. A few things that we know about the upcoming spin-off is that it will be written by series creator, Robert Kirkman, none of the current cast members will be on the spin-off, and it will premiere in 2015.

This good news comes on top of an already amazing season for 'The Walking Dead,' whose fourth season averaged 13.3 millions viewers. Season five is sure to bring even crazy numbers when the show returns this fall.
