Staying alive in outer space is a difficult thing to do these days. From a story by Dark Horse Comics Publisher, Mike Richardson, Deep Gravity reunites the Star Wars: Legacy duo, Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko, along with artist Fernando Baldo, on a space mission filled with unfriendly planets and flesh-eating aliens.

Plot Synopsis:

Welcome to Poseidon! Gilise MG452, a.k.a. "Poseidon," is Earth's deadly sister planet.

A planet similar to ours, yet utterly alien, it circles a red dwarf just three years from Earth. Maelstrom Science and Technology Corp. has the lone contract to mine the planet's resources. But what once was a scientific expedition has become a beast of profit...with no room for failure.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Richardson explains how his story is different from the recent film, Gravity, "It's a fun story. It's a story of survival and the irresistible pull one person can have on another. It's a little bit Alien-esque with a little bit of The Poseidon Adventure in space thrown in."

In the same interview, Hardman discusses the artwork, "Fernando [Baldo] definitely has his own style, and that's exactly right for this project. With our other books, the artists we were working with were following me after I set a tone and style. On some level that's just about keeping a consistency so the readers feel like we're in the same world. Here, Fernando is able to really be free to establish the look from the start. That said, I think we share some influences and he puts a lot of ink on the page, which is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned."

Be sure to grab the first issue of Deep Gravity when it hits stores on July 30th. Space is a killing machine wrapped in total darkness.
