The Elder Scrolls Online is officially available to play this week for PC and Mac, and the developers over at Bethesda have released an impressive new launch trailer to celebrate. As we know, launch trailers are pretty epic for any game, but this time around we're treated to a 5-minute cinematic short film entitled "The Siege," which is sure to get us all excited to play the highly anticipated game.

Here is a statement that accompanies this new launch trailer for Elder Scrolls Online:

Tamriel faces annihilation. Molag Bal has claimed the Imperial City while the alliances, locked in a bitter conflict with one another, struggle to seize the Ruby Throne from the clutches of Oblivion. In the latest in our cinematic series, travel to the ravaged battlefield of Cyrodiil and join the fight today in The Elder Scrolls Online!

This trailer is part of a cinematic series of previews for Elder Scrolls Online, all of which don't really share any new information about the online gaming experience. That's most likely intentional since gamers would really need to sign up and playing order to truly find out what the game is like.

Meanwhile, Elder Scrolls Online director Matt Firor recently answered some questions about the actual gameplay.

"Good quests begin and end with a good story," he said. "If you care about the characters you are helping or the mystery you are solving, then the quest works. This is a game content design mantra, not just confined to MMOGs. With fully voiced NPCs and a really strong writing team, we made sure that when you are questing that you care about what you are doing, which makes the whole quest interesting and fun."
