Fans have been wondering about the details of the Amazing Spider-Man spinoff movie, Sinister Six, ever since its announcement several months ago. The film will focus on the famous group of Spider-Man villains, though the actual roster of the crew is unknown at this time. But we at least know who will direct the film thanks to a new report.

The Hollywood Reporter states Drew Goddard, who directed The Cabin in the Woods, will helm and write the movie. He was hired to pen the film in December, but he had not been tapped to direct it at that time.

This news also raises some questions about his involvement in Netflix's Daredevil series. Goddard is writing that show, but this Spider-Man film could prevent him from directing the first episode when it shoots this summer. It's also possible the schedules do not overlap and he could do it all, so we'll find out in a few months.

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Ed Solomon are still working on the other Spidey spinoff, Venom, and Kurtzman has already been confirmed to direct that movie.

In related news, fans in the U.S. must wait until May 2 to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but most international fans will have already seen the film by that pint. Sony Pictures U.K. announced Monday that the U.K. will be the first nation to receive the film, as it will premiere on April 16.

The film was originally scheduled for a U.K. release on April 18, but the April 16 date is more than a full two weeks ahead of the U.S. premiere. So if you want to be surprised when you see the movie, then avoid Internet articles about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 after April 16 because they are sure to be packed with spoilers.
