Though we're not getting a Borderlands 3 anytime soon from developers Gearbox, we are getting Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel later this year from developers 2K Australia. Though this isn't exactly what you wanted from this franchise, this new title could turn into ... exactly what you wanted. Check out a launch trailer as well as a brand new gameplay trailer to see for yourself!

So yes, Gearbox has stepped aside on this game, letting 2K Australia take the lead. Earlier this week, Gearbox's Randy Pitchford and 2K Australia's Tony Lawrence addressed the press for the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launch.

"They've really done some things to turn Borderlands upside down, so to speak," Pitchford joked in regards to 2K's lead on this game. "These guys have been able to ignore rules we've set for ourselves and bring some new things to the Borderlands universe. The Australia team didn't care about the arguments we've had over the years about whether or not freeze weapons would be difficult or whether they'd be appropriate. These guys have actually added ice bullets to the game."
