[WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE WALKING DEAD COMIC AND TV SERIES AHEAD]

The Walking Dead comic book introduced the villain Negan in issue #100 in a major way when the psychotic leader of the Saviors bashed Glenn's brains in, quite literally, with a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat that he affectionately calls "Lucille." Fans of the book have wondered if Negan would appear on the television series, and creator Robert Kirkman has all but guaranteed it.

In an interview with MTV, Kirkman called Negan a "99% lock" to appear on the series down the road. The site asked if Jon Hamm could be a candidate for the role, and Kirkman responded with a joke.

"He's not tall enough! That's a joke. I think Jon Hamm would be perfect. I think after Mad Men has run, Jon Hamm is going to have a Tom Hanks level film career, so I don't think he'll be coming back to television anytime soon. Although that would be cool!

As far as Negan casting goes, Scott and I are always talking about who we would put in that, it's definitely on our minds, and there are definitely a lot of candidates. But I wouldn't expect Negan too terribly soon, although he is definitely in the plan. It's a 99% lock that he's going to be in the show eventually, so be on the lookout for that."

Kirkman also said during the interview that Daryl Dixon would never appear in the comics, and that he just turned in the second episode script for Season 5. He also said that he has the next three to five evolutions of the comic book planned out to a rough mark of issue #200.

When do you think Negan would appear? Who should play him? Let us know in the comments below.
