Lower league Port Vale aren't near the English Premier League, but it appears their training ground drama exploded, showing that it's not just top-tier players who have a cocky attitude. Port Vale captain Doug Loft is considering taking legal action against his now ex-colleague, Daniel Jones, who assaulted him for a mistimed training ground tackle. Jones, 27, has been sacked, whilst Loft, 27, has been told he will be out for the season.

Loft has already commented saying, "I just want to get my face right and then I will go away and talk with my family and decide about my future. We went into a tackle and as I was getting up off the floor he hit me" Loft insisted this assault was all in the heat of the moment, with no prior problems between the pair. He explained "We went into a tackle and as I was getting up off the floor he hit me," He continued, saying "I fell backwards and sat on the floor, the gaffer sent him in and I went to hospital for X-rays."

Loft revealed that he had received a text from Jones to apologise, but he's still angry, and rightfully so. He explained "At the minute, I am angry. I have been playing really well and I was getting a lot of interest and I knew that people were watching me. I am annoyed and upset that I will miss the rest of the season."

Port Vale manager Micky Adams has handled the matter efficiently, but for now his club are two men lighter, and he may lose Loft permanently in the summer as he is due to be out of contract. Lower league Port Vale will be hoping they next get in to the headlines for positive reasons and not the negative drama caused by Daniel Jones.
