It seems everything that could of gone wrong for the New York Knicks this season has. They assumed they'd be in the NBA playoffs once again, but this time they were hoping to build on last years failure. However, they were below par until the late stages of the season, and it's been suggested that Carmelo Anthony will opt out and take some careful consideration over his future. It's looking increasingly likely that he will leave the Knicks, and he may well of played his last game, as he will sit out the final two with a slight labrum tear in his right shoulder.

Where could he go you ask? The two favourites are the Chicago Bulls and the Houston Rockets. It seems impossible that the Knicks can offer anything to make Anthony reconsider, especially given the talented rosters their rivals have. The Bulls have Derrick Rose, whilst the Rockets have Dwight Howard and James Harden, can the Knicks top that kind of support? Unlikely.

This is the first time the star will miss the playoffs in his 11-year career, and it's impossible to think he'd want to resign with the team he suffered that fate with. He will not require surgery, so there will be no questions to ask for his (possibly) new team.

The only chance might be their hiring of team president Phil Jackson. If they can add to his legacy and add a quality player to help Anthony, they might have a small chance, but for now it seems New York should prepare to wave goodbye to Carmelo Anthony.
