Andrew Garfield claims Spider-Man is Jewish

Andrew Garfield is clearly a devoted fan of Spider-Man, and the actor is fortunate enough to play the character again in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He has previously discussed the possibility that Spider-Man could be gay, and now he has put forth the notion that Peter Parker is Jewish.

"Spider-man is neurotic," Garfield told Time Out (via Independent). "Peter Parker is not a simple dude. He can't just switch off. He never feels like he's doing enough. And Peter suffers from self-doubt. He ums and ahs about his future because he's neurotic. He's Jewish. It's a defining feature."  

"I hope Jewish people won't mind the cliché, because my father's Jewish. I have that in me for sure," the 30-year-old actor added. "He's an over-thinker. It would be much easier if he was a life-saving robot."

Many have speculated that Gwen would die in this movie. Fans of the Spider-Man comic book know that a pivotal moment in the superhero's life came when his first girlfriend died at the hands of the Green Goblin even though Spidey thought he had saved her life. Given that the Goblin (Dane DeHaan) will square off with the web head in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and given Stone's comments about the film, it's entirely possible she won't make it out of the movie alive.
