As fans likely already know, Cobie Smulders will return to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Maria Hill for an upcoming episode. Amy Acker will also guest star in the prior episode as Audrey, the cellist with whom Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) had a romance.

Now, TVLine has posted some photos to offer a first look at the lovely ladies' appearances on the show. Acker guest stars alongside Gregg, her Much Ado About Nothing co-star, in the April 22 episode, while Smulders returns in the April 29 hour. Naturally, Acker's character is in danger and Coulson has to race to save her life.

Perhaps the most revealing photo is the final one, in which Coulson places a kiss on Audrey's hand as the woman is on the ground, and it looks like her eyes are closed. Uh oh.

ABC has released the episode description for Smulders' episode, the 20th Season 1 installment entitled "Nothing Personal."

"Just when there's no one left to trust, Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) -- from The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Solider -- returns to team up with Coulson as S.H.I.E.L.D. is being destroyed around them."

It sounds pretty dire, but it fits with what has been happening on the show and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

TVLine first exclusively reported that the actress would return for the episode. Smulders has played her in both The Avengers and Captain America 2, and she also appeared in the pilot episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The site also reports that the character will have "a large role" and that "those who clamored for a Coulson/Hill team-up will get it, punctuated by lots of action."
