Dark Horse Comics and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products have partnered together for an upcoming project based on the highly anticipated animated film, The Book of Life. This September, Dark Horse will release The Art of The Book of Life, a companion piece with production art, stills, and more behind-the-scenes trivia.

From visionary producer Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) and director Jorge R. Gutierrez (El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera), The Book of Life is a celebration of the power of friendship and family, told through stunning visuals. The 3D animated film stars the voices of Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek: Into Darkness), Diego Luna (Milk), and Christina Applegate (Anchorman).

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gutierrez explains why his "Art of" book will look different than the others, "I saw every single one that comes out and my biggest heartbreak is that I see all this glorious artwork and then the movie doesn't look like that. The mandate of this was, our 'Art of' book is going to look exactly like the movie. And every artist poured their and heart and soul into that idea."

Plot Synopsis:

The story centers on the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart.  Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, The Book of Life encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.

The Book of Life is slated to be released in theaters on October 17th. The Art of The Book of Life will hit stores on September 3rd, the movie's release date.
