Pat Sajak longtime host of Wheel of Fortune has publicly come out of the closet... as straight. The game show host has taken to Twitter to make the announcement.

Sajak tweeted: "Damn the career consequences! I'm hereby proclaiming my heterosexuality!"

The tweet has since gained a lot of attention both in the gay and straight communities, and the general consensus is that people are not amused by Mr. Sajak's comments.

Reactions fell all across the board, some supporting the tweet, while other felt mocked by it.

One Twitter user says, "I have a lot of gay friends that got dumped by their families and lost jobs when they came out. Just not funny."

Another tweet says, "Seriously, mocking gay people? Is that all you got?"

Others were extremely supportive of Sajak saying "If Gays think they have to wear their sexuality on their sleeve...why can't Straights? Be proud of who you are."

One Twitter response got a reaction from Sajak himself.

User @maliheh_ tweeted, "Should a sexual preference rather gay, straight or somewhere in between need an announcement or a label?" to which Sajak replied, "@maliheh_ Exactly the point J.

It appears what Sajak was trying to do, was to make a profound statement that, a sexual preference doesn't need to have a proclamation or an announcement in today's society.

Some of the users didn't understand his point and felt like they their coming out process was being belittled and attacked.

Another user seemed to understand his stance, writing that Sajak is "mocking all the drama surrounding supposedly 'private' life being forced on everyone."
