Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has really been ramping up the action, and the quality of the show, since the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and all the shocking revelations that came along with it. The characters became more interesting and the plots more tense. And it seems like the show will be sprinting, rather than limping, to the season finale.

Firstly, Cobie Smulders will return as Agent Maria Hill in next week's installment. But the "Mega Buzz" column at TV Guide reports that the reunion of her and Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team will not be a smooth one:

"Please tell me Cobie Smulders is going to stay on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. full-time! - Cara
The good news: Producers are hoping to find a more permanent position for her next season. The bad:  Agent Hill's future on the show - including her return in the April 29 episode - will be highly contentious. For starters, she was last seen applying for a job at Stark Industries at the end of Winter Soldier. 'It would appear that she's moving on. Coulson clearly has not,' executive producer Jeph Loeb says. 'And let's not forget that Hill hid the truth about T.A.H.I.T.I.' 'I don't know how much Coulson trusts her opinion on anything, frankly," executive producer Jeffrey Bell says."

TV Guide also posted the following description of the finale, which features the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury:

"Now that Hydra has revealed themselves and S.H.I.E.L.D. has been disbanded, Coulson and his team are on their own to take down the now-missing Clairvoyant. But how will they react when they learn Ward is actually a member of Hydra planted in their group? The finale will address Ward's true allegiances as well as answer questions about Skye's lineage, who's controlling Deathlok and what the Clairvoyant wants with Coulson. 'We think the audience is waiting for a showdown between Coulson's team and Garrett's team and they're going to get a satisfying payoff to that epic conclusion,' executive producer Jeffrey Bell says, hinting there could be other sleepers. 'If they win, it comes at a price.' Plus: Nick Fury returns!"
