'Magic Mike' star Matt Bomer Secretly Married Husband Simon Halls Three Years Ago

Matt Bomer is Detail's cover star for their May 2014 issue and he is revealing some juicy gossip about his love life in the pages of the men's magazine.

Bomer who publicly came out as gay in 2012 during his acceptance speech at the Desert AIDS Project's Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards in Palm Springs, reveals to the magazine that in 2011, a year before coming out, that he married Simon Halls. The couple who have been married for three years now shares three children together, six year old twins and an eight year old.

The White Collar stars latest role is in Ryan Murphy's TV movie adaptation of The Normal Heart for HBO. In the TV adaptation of the play written by Larry Kramer, Bomer portrays a gay man who is suffering from AIDS during the beginning days of the disease.

Having read the play in high school, Matt says that when he heard about the project that, he "just wanted to be involved... in some capacity. I didn't care what my part was." Bomer continues, "And then to have a role that changes you? I think that's the best you could hope for in this profession, and that was certainly the case here. I don't think I'll ever be the same as I was when I started the job."

He credits people like Kramer for helping pave the way for gay rights in our society. "I wouldn't have a lot of rights I have today if it wasn't for people like Larry." One of those being the right for same-sex couples to get married.

For the role, Bomer say that he had to lose 40 pounds and that his Magic Mike co-star Matt McConaughey called him up to give him some advice on how to shed the pounds. "He called me and walked me through what he did. It was very generous, but I took a slightly different path," saying that he accomplished his weight-loss with the help of doctors who put him on a 14 days liquid cleanse that includes alkalized-water, juice, and tea.

McConaughey just recently lost 50 pounds to play AID activits Ron Woodroof in the Oscar winning film Dallas Buyers Club.
