Lana Del Rey makes a splash with her new single 'West Coast' on the Billboard Hot 100 and coasts into the number 17 spot.

The lead single of her upcoming Ultraviolence album sold 118,000 downloads in its first sales week which ended on April 20.

There are different charts that go into factoring where a song will land on the Hot 100 including the airplay charts, digital sales chart, and the streaming songs chart. Since the single is not currently being promoted to radio by Interscope Records it fails to make a debut on the airplay chart, however, the digital sales for the song were the sixth highest this week giving it the number six spot on the Digital Songs chart. As for the streaming songs chart, it gained 2.7 million streams giving it the number 16 spot this week. The breakout for chart points come from digital sales make up 68 percent and the remaining 32 come from streaming services.

"West Coast" was released to iTunes on April 14 after the singer played the song at Coachella the night before.

This is Lana's second-highest charting song after her hit "Summertime Sadness," which entered the charts last summer and reached the number six spot on the Hot 100 after having been remixed by Cedric Gervais. Del Ray's other tracks that have made impacts on the charts include songs 'Video Games" and "Young and Beautiful" from The Great Gatsby soundtrack, which peaked at number 91 and number 22 respectively.

"West Coast" will be sure to climb the charts once it gains radio play and once the music video premieres later this week.
