When news broke that Batman vs. Superman would feature the most female superhero, Wonder Woman, many fans envisioned MMA fighter Gina Carano as the iconic character. Instead, the Fast and The Furious actress Gal Gadot got the part, which caused controversy among fans.

Now, Carano has commented on Gadot's casting and also revealed that, as far as she knows, she was never up for the part.

"I was never approached, and I don't know if I was considered," she told The Toronto Sun. As for Gadot, she had nothing but praise. "I worked with her on Fast & Furious 6, and she's amazing. Such a great person with such a solidness in her character, so I'm very excited for her to do that."

Carano also addressed the main source of the controversy. Some vocal fans feel that Gadot's frame is too thin to play the character, compared to someone like Carano.

"I think people have an idea what they consider Wonder Woman," she said. "I definitely know (Gadot) has been training and there's so much more that goes into being a strong female character. I think people have their own idea, but I always like the underdog, I'm always rooting for the underdog. If the world says you can't do something, I couldn't care less because that's not how anybody should live their lives."

Finally, Carano shot down rumors about her starring in a female Expendables film.

"I was never attached to the female Expendables," she said. "It's just something like people put my name in there and then everyone thought it was truth."
