When a Floyd 'Money' Mayweather fight is either just around the corner or had just happened, you can bet with his extra millions and millions of dollars another rumour will surface. The star fighter is due to take on underdog Marcos Maidana this Saturday (May 3rd), and the latest reports suggest that he wants to become an NBA owner afterwards. After the racism row surrounding Clippers' owner Donald Sterling, he has been banned for life and will have to sell his team. So could 'Money' Mayweather be the man to spearhead a takeover?

Mayweather is a known gambler but he's also boxing's richest fighter, with earnings of over $400m and the latest reports suggest he wants to launch a takeover of the talented NBA team. His wealth is rumoured to be doubling in the coming years, with certain fees guaranteed to come his way, so money wouldn't be a problem for the hard-hitter.

Could Floyd give up gambling on sports, and make the biggest gamble of his life, by buying an NBA franchise? The Clippers are valued at around $500m, and with Sterling's position more than untenable, it looks like a deal could be agreed shortly after Mayweather's fight. Could he launch the bid on his own, or would he join forces with others? It's rumoured that legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya could help, too.

Would Floyd 'Money' Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya make good NBA owners? Would you back this move? For now Mayweather will be concentrating on remaining an undefeated fighter, and then he might, just might look at becoming the owner of the LA Clippers.
