Rumors of Bill Goldberg competing in a match at WrestleMania 31 have swirled recently, and they are only going to pick up steam thanks to a new report that claims WWE wants to sign him for next year's WrestleMania.

F4WOnline.com reports that the company is preparing plans to sign Goldberg to a deal sometime this year to set up the Mania event. The current plan calls for Goldberg to sign and feature in the WWE 2K15 video game, which releases in the fall. This would be similar to how WWE promoted Ultimate Warrior prior to the 2K14 version last fall.

WWE also wants to promote Goldberg at SummerSlam in August and build toward Mania, which could feature a match and/or an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

As a refresher, Goldberg told PWInsider.com about the several conversations he had with COO Triple H, none of which specifically mentioned the rumored Ryback match or any other match at WrestleMania 30; however, he did say the following about his level of interest in a WWE return:

"Would I love to do it again and have my son and my wife, who has never seen me wrestle? Abso-damn-lutely. Would I jeopardize what I've done in the wrestling world just to make that happen? No. So if I wasn't ready to do it, physically ready to do it, and it wasn't the right situation, I wouldn't do it just to do it. If that was the case, I'd probably be at WrestleMania this year. It just has to be right and if it's not right, then I'm retired, for good."
