Fans who saw The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in its opening weekend likely know the film did not contain a post-credits scene as the first movie did. Instead, what fans received was a scene from X-Men: Days of Future Past due to a somewhat complicated scenario. But now, new details surrounding the originally planned post-credits scene have been revealed.

Screen Rant reports that the original scene featured Gustav Fiers, aka The Gentleman, walking through Oscorp's "Secret Projects" level, where he sees the face of a familiar character:

"According to all sources, the original post-credits scene followed Mr. Fiers as he strolled through Oscorp's secret level - likely the same scene which featured the writhing ball of black liquid some identified as the Venom symbiote - and approached the disembodied, frozen head. With a quiet 'wake up, old friend,' the scene comes to a close."

The film's actual secret teaser can be unlocked by using the Shazam app during the Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar song "It's On Again" during the credits or even at home. When one does so, it opens a video message that teases the Sinister Six and possibly the villain's identities. Harry Osborn hints at the formation of the group at the end of TASM2, and The Gentleman helps bring them together in some versions of Spider-Man source materials, so their presence makes sense even if a Sinister Six movie hadn't already been announced.
