Shown across 2,730 silver screens "Katy Perry: Part Of Me" has done somewhat acceptable considering the stiff competition that it is up against. Perry's movie has been facing stiff competition which includes the blockbuster brawn of "The Amazing Spiderman," and Seth McFarlane's Family Guy-esque comedy "Ted."

Premiering the day after the fourth of July, the film grossed what was estimated to be $10.2 million over a four day period. It also took in $7.1 million for its opening weekend which was good enough for an 8 spot ranking in the box office.

The numbers are considered by many to be bleak considering Paramount's past pop movie success with Justin Bieber 's "Never Say Never;" which raked in $29.5 million the week before Valentine's Day in 2011. According to Box Office Mojo, the film went on to bank a genre topping $73 million.

The biographical piece gives you an insight into Katy Perry, the person. Shot much like a documentary, it shows the pop star performing some of her best in 3D, including "Last Friday Night" and also delves into her career and touches on her life; which includes her very public breakup with off-the-wall actor Russell Brand and devoutly religious family.

The film is slated to pull in between 16 to 19 million before its removal from the big screen. If the past repeats itself, this teen-targeted film will only have a shelf life of roughly five more weeks.

One would think the large publicity she has received over her marriage woes would monetarily impact the film in a positive way. Unfortunately, the billboard topper's recent relationship blunder hasn't seemed to show any great signs of that.

Ironically enough, the movie is the perfect "Teenage Dream;" that is if you fit the demographic.

Next up for teen pop sensation movies: One Direction. Sony is slated to release the film right before Thanksgiving.
