Arrow Season 2 Finale photos show returning characters, showdowns and more

The CW's Arrow airs its Season 2 finale on Wednesday, and anticipation is at a fever pitch as Oliver and Slade face off in a final showdown for Starling City. The battle has brought some familiar faces back into the mix, and the final hour will be no different.

TVLine has posted a batch of photos from the Season 2 finale that shows a gunpoint standoff, Black Canary and Nyssa fighting Ravager and a sort of hostage situation for one major player.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said the following about the episode, entitled "Unthinkable."

"There may have been a lot of what seemed like detours this season, but it all plays out in the last few episodes. Hopefully, everyone will see the method to our madness and find the finale to be an exciting culmination of the season, as opposed to just a great episode."

Katie Cassidy, who plays Laurel Lance, called the finale "action-packed," ‘jaw-dropping" and "beyond entertaining." She described it as "a whirlwind of events that are huge plot points and pivotal twists in our story. It's really good."

In related news, TVLine reports the following about the Season 2 finale:

"Titled 'Unthinkable,' the sizable season ender required Arrow to return to The Watchmen's sprawling cityscape set -- it's that big. 'There may have been a lot of what seemed like detours this season, but it all plays out in the last few episodes,' Kreisberg attests. 'Hopefully, everyone will see the method to our madness and find the finale to be an exciting culmination of the season, as opposed to just a great episode.'"
