Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aired its Season 1 finale on Tuesday, and the show wrapped up its freshman run with a conclusion to the Clairvoyant and HYDRA storylines, but also opened up mysteries for Season 2.

Coulson vaporized Garrett, Ward has been arrested, Deathlok is free and Coulson is in charge of a brand new S.H.I.E.L.D. Moreover, Raina brought Skye's father a picture of her, but something is clearly not right with him.

Executive producer Jeffery Bell spoke to EW.com and offered a preview of next season:

"Now that we've pretty much closed the book on The Clairvoyant, does that mean there's going to be a new Big Bad for season two? Maybe someone else involved in Hydra?
I don't know if that'll necessarily come out of Hydra. Villains are hard to sustain in season long arc because you know it's a villain. You catch them, they get away, you catch them, they get away, and then it goes on and on forever, like the coyote and the roadrunner. And so part of the reason we held off on the reveal - we talked about The Clairvoyant, but even that came later, and then the reveal was later so that you didn't feel like you were going back and forth. And we have people on the villain side who survived, like Raina, like Quinn, like Ward, who still exist. And so we have a through line, but I think there's also an opportunity for us to make season two wholly its own rather than just a continuation of season one."

Jeph Loeb also talked briefly about Skye's father in an interview with TV.com:

"When everything is revealed, it will be a tremendous surprise, but at the same time, everyone will go, 'Oh, that's the coolest thing ever.'"

As far as Raina's words that there is a darkness in Skye, Bell said the following:

"I would argue that Raina says a lot of things, but we all have darkness. We don't do anything causally. We're aware of what we're saying. How these things play out and what they mean hopefully are open to interpretation."

The site asked if Skye's father is next seasons Big Bad, and Bell simply said, "That's another good question."
