The grim reaper is about to visit Mystic Falls... at least that's what stars Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev are hoping.

The two stars recently talked to BuzzFeed confessed that the show has gotten a little stagnant and could be spiced up by killing a few main characters off.

The show has featured some pretty shocking deaths including some main characters; Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning), and Vicki Donovan (Kayla Ewell) just to name a small few. The last two seasons however have steered away from main cast member's deaths,  or when character's do die they are simply brought back next week by a spell or vampire blood, something that Wesley isn't very happy about.

"You can't keep killing characters and bringing them back while using death as a catalyst for us caring about the episode. Death has to the be ultimate fear on our show, so when Stefan is trying to rescue Elena, we're genuinely terrified she might die. Otherwise, what's the point?"

In last week's episode we saw Welsey's character, Stefan get his heart ripped out of his chest, which is one of the few ways to actually kill a vampire. When BuzzFeed asked if he was worried that his character might be killed off, he was completely unfazed by it.

"I'm kind of numb to these things, to be honest with you. I've had so many things happen to me that it's a little comical. So, yeah, no big deal."

He is hoping that the writers will shake things up in the sixth season of the show; he mainly just wants the writers "to start killing people," even if it's his own character.

"Obviously, if they killed me, I would be disappointed. But people need to die. End of story,"

Nina Dobrev seconds Wesley's views on the topic, telling BuzzFeed that she'd love to see people get crossed of the list.

"In the beginning, the shock value of killing Vicki in the first few episodes made us stand out. As soon as you start bringing people back, you kind of lose that. I mean, it's great for me, personally, because I get to hang out with my friends, but from a story standpoint, now you don't care or believe when someone dies because you've seen how easily they can come back. The witches can always fix it, somehow. It's been six years, so I think it would be good to go down the list and cross them off."

With the season finale airing tonight, maybe Dobrev and Wesley will get their wish.
